Elyse’s life was nothing short of a whirlwind a year ago. She had recently found out she was pregnant, and immediately she shifted gears in both her personal and professional spaces to ensure she would be the best parent she could. This meant adjusting how her business operated, investing in herself through coaching, and even purchasing her dream home. Seven weeks in, she and her husband were struck with the terrible news of a miscarriage. From there, Elyse found her way back to being herself.

Flash forward to the day before Thanksgiving this year, and Elyse and her husband were blessed with the good news of pregnancy. Now in her 17th week, she shares three things her pregnancy has taught her and how we can utilize them in multiple aspects of our lives. First, Elyse discusses listening to your body and trusting it and your instincts. Your body, she says, will naturally guide your decisions in personal and professional endeavours. Just like the seasons, there are times to be bright and vibrant, and other times to evaluate and assess and heal. Her tips to enforce this mentality include having a morning ritual. Yes, you’ve probably heard it a million times, but creating space to receive answers from your body, your spirit, or a higher power is crucial to respecting what your body is telling you.

Elyse’s second practice she learned was the importance of efficiency. When you’re pregnant, you often may feel unwell, leaving you with fewer and fewer hours in the day to get done what you need to do. To combat this, leaning on efficiency will streamline your work so you can reach your goals in the smoothest way possible. To help this, Elyse suggests delegating. Finding a single thing every month to go on the “can someone else do this” list can help free up your time and mental space to do what needs to get done. Additionally, getting hyper clear on your priorities can help you prevent feeling overwhelmed or underprepared. Finally, Elyse’s third lesson is to enjoy the process.

There will always be low points in your life, and they can shape you into a different person. But, everything is happening for you, not to you. The universe is working for your greater good. The more we can set an intention and go after it with everything you have and still being able to accept and outcome, the more we can grow. Trusting the journey is what it’s all about.
