So many people are grappling with self-worth and self-doubt. A lot of these feelings are creeping upon us. And yes, strategy and tactics are a part of the equation, but all of that means nothing without making sure your mindset is there too. It doesn’t matter how good your funnel is, if your inner game isn’t strong, you won’t grow. So if you’re questioning “why me?” or “why would anyone pay me to do this?” this episode is for you. Today, we’re throwing it back to Episode 2, where Elyse sat down with Heather Monahan, best-selling author of Confidence Creator.

Heather’s journey wasn’t without its share of challenges. After elevating to the position of Cheif Revenue Officer at a publicly-traded company, Heather was faced with an obstacle–the CEO of the company she worked for fell ill and appointed his daughter to the role. Shortly thereafter, and after 14 years of dedication and success, Heather was fired. Instead of calling it quits, Heather looked at the hurdle as an opportunity. From there, she learned that shining her light doesn’t dim those around her, in fact, it can encourage them to shine theirs as well.

Heather talks a bit about what encouraged her to make herself more visible in her online space. For her, it took someone else promoting a conversation they had for her to see the true impact video can have on your inbound leads, network growth, and ultimately, revenue. Once she was increasingly visible thanks to the consistent posting of value-filled videos, she realized the importance of leaning into your personal brand–get those professional headshots done! That being said, don’t feel as though you need to be perfect every day, all day. There is serious value in authenticity and showing up as your real self.

Then, Elyse and Heather tackle the topic of haters. The truth is, if you don’t have haters, you’re doing something wrong! Haters will always appear when they see you accomplishing something they want or feel like they don’t have. Most of the time, ignoring them is the way to go. But sometimes, if it’s appropriate, calling them out is a great way to show your audience that you are not immune to hate, and it shows you that your audience stands behind what you’re doing and will support you through anything.

Moving on, Heather discusses when ‘no’ is a hard no, and when to persist. She talks about being persistent and showing up in a person’s life through multiple channels. Did you get a no from someone who can say yes? If not, who else can you connect with that can help you reach your goal? From there, think about how you can be uniquely at the forefront of their minds. Heather shares with us an incredible story of how she was booked as a returning guest on the Steve Harvey Show.

Finally, Heather talks about journaling and how you can effectively expand your network. Be sure to tune into to listen (or re-listen) to this wonderful conversation!
