Cultivate From Homeless to 7 Figure Entrepreneur with Marie-Claire (Best of the Podcast)

In a rare but very special “Best of She Sells Radio” episode, you’ll hear from one of the most inspiring guests we’ve ever had on the show. This is an episode that I have gone back to listen to time and time again myself, and now that it has been so long since we’ve had Marie-Claire on the show, we need to revisit this conversation. It’s THAT good.

This interview is an emotional journey as we hear a story that will blow your mind. Our guest, Marie-Claire is a highly sought-after beauty and lifestyle expert on social media, an entrepreneur, and an absolute inspiration for single mothers and women in business.

Marie-Claire immigrated from Haiti as a teen mother and while raising her son Dominique who is autistic and epileptic, made the journey from welfare, homelessness, bankruptcy, and constantly feeling unworthy and ashamed, to now topping over $167,000 monthly! Today she shares her journey and how she was able to keep her vibrant energy throughout it all. Her secret? Listen to your heart. It always knows.

Show Notes:

[3:20] – Marie-Claire immigrated to the United States from Haiti at 16 years old and pregnant.

[6:30] – Through it all, Marie-Claire remained confident and attributes her strength to her faith and upbringing.

[8:55] – Marie-Claire is not afraid to walk into a room and radiate her vibrant energy.

[10:28] – Her son’s epilepsy became a challenge with her work schedule when she started working in corporate America.

[17:01] – Continuing on her journey, Marie-Claire then worked for MAC Cosmetics and returned to corporate America.

[18:52] – Marie-Claire shares how she learned what she was meant to do. It was something she had heard before but this time her soul was ready to hear it.

[22:50] – When she didn’t have a good first month, she made a change and knew the universe sent her there.

[23:16] – It is hard to listen to your heart when society is telling you to follow your head.

[24:31] – Marie-Claire was ready to hire a coach and when she did, she changed her life.

[26:16] – Finding her niche as an acne expert instead of offering everything created a booming business.

[30:58] – Marie-Claire reflects on the painful decision to place her son in a group home because she could not give him 24 hour care yet.

[33:43] – Living in the receptive mode is what changed Marie-Claire’s life. She explains how and from whom she learned this.

[33:42] – Marie-Claire explains her routines and gratitude practice.

[37:11] – How did Marie-Claire embody the 7 figure entrepreneur she wanted to be?

[39:33] – Feeling good is what you are supposed to feel. You are not meant to be here to suffer. The goal to increase profits doesn’t end. But don’t forget to enjoy the journey.

[42:51] – Let go of saving a dollar and focus on the things that make you happy.

[46:17] – Listen to your heart. It always knows.

Welcome to She Sells Radio. All right so I have a very cool episode for you today

0:08

this is a little bit of a behind the scenes listen on what it’s like to be on

0:14

one of our Mastermind coaching calls so in my 50k Club Mastermind which is for

0:19

women who are already at the six figure level looking to go to multi6 or seven figures we will often bring in a really

0:26

cool high level guest mentor and we had on um someone who is phenomenal her

0:32

name is Kate Taylor she is a I would call her like a celebrity entrepreneur

0:38

stylist and one of the things that I love most about her and you’re going to hear this in what she shares is she has

0:46

this like unapologetic no FSG given energy and she wasn’t always like

0:53

that too when she speaks to that I’m not sure I my team pulled a clip from this so I’m not sure exactly what part they

0:58

pulled um but but with that you’ll hear that regardless of whether she’s speaking directly to that in this clip

1:05

or not you’re going to hear that in her energy and I just remember being on this call with her a couple months back and

1:11

being like man I am just the whole vibe is upleveling the whole vibe is

1:19

impression of increase uh and it’s just so fun so I wanted to share this with

1:24

you and just help I mean she’s someone who I would love to do a solo interview

1:29

with on podcast anyway so we’ll probably do that and bring her back directly for the podcast but she did such a great job

1:35

sharing with our Mastermind that I wanted to to share this clip with you um so that you could hear what that’s like

1:41

and connect with her so my team will link her information down in show notes so you can check her out whether you’re

1:48

a um whether you’re looking for a stylist and you don’t have to be a celebrity entrepreneur she works with

1:53

just cool badass entrepreneurs um in general helping them Elevate their personal style or if you

1:59

you are a stylist she has a really cool stylist school that you can check out as well so my team again will link all her

2:06

contact information in the show notes and if you are interested in our

2:11

Mastermind we are currently as I record this looking to see who our members are going to be going into the new year we

2:18

um again we work with women entrepreneurs and sales professionals who are already at the six figure level

2:24

or at 10K months um who are ready to go to multi6 or seven figures in this

2:30

Mastermind and so if that’s you or if you want to nominate someone it is an application process then you can uh you

2:37

can either email elysearcher.com if there’s someone you want to nominate if it’s you and you’re interested in

2:43

checking it out Elis arch.com 5K Club but we are making decisions now and looking at who’s going to be part of

2:49

that program as we go into next year so you can listen to this if it resonates if you feel called if you want to be in

2:55

that type of a Vibe go check out The Mastermind um either way you’re going to love listening in on this conversation

3:02

and and hearing from Kate and really just tapping into her unap Unapologetic

3:08

energy so with that without further Ado here is Kate Kate welcome I’m so happy

3:14

to see you you look beautiful thank you for being here of course of course hello

3:21

hello so we have we may have more women hopping on we’ve got 10 in the group it’s it’s a different time than we

3:27

normally meet so I think some women may be catching the play um but we’re going to be obviously like sharing this with

3:33

everyone and um and it’s going to be really really beautiful so I don’t want to waste any time I want to like get

3:39

into having you here with us which we’re so exced so um okay so this is really

3:46

really beautiful and ladies Kate and I connected I think like back in April we started talking about you coming in and

3:53

Kate is so in demand she was like it’s gonna have to be here which is great because she is such a phenomenal um

4:01

human being but also entrepreneur and so Kate I’ll let you do like a more formal introduction if you’re okay with it but

4:07

I do want to say a couple of things um that I just really respect and appreciate about Kate and that I’m

4:13

excited to um hopefully dive into today with her as your guest Mentor for the month um is number one so we we

4:20

connected I think first in Italy is that where we first I was actually trying to think about that today I think it was

4:27

Italy I think it was Venice yeah I think we connected we were at a retreat together in Venice um and I like I had

4:34

watched Kate’s business from afar you probably don’t even know this but I’d been like I know I’m like learning new things yeah I like I was like oh she’s

4:42

like on top of her game like she’s got it and I was honestly like we were paired together for an exercise and I

4:47

was intimidated to be paired with you and I don’t know if you could tell or not but I was no I could

4:52

not she was so kind and so present and

4:58

so just like the most beautiful Soul um really helping me think through different ways of being in my business

5:04

and in my life too and I was just like drawn to her and just like so appreciative um of how you showed up

5:11

with me there and um just what she has built and created um I think what’s

5:16

going to be really powerful for today Kate if you’re up for it is um so I know

5:22

you’ve got I told the women in our Marco Polo chat I was like I feel like you’re like a celebrity entrepreneur stylist I

5:27

don’t know if you would identify with that but who also has built a very

5:33

successful uh business as well teaching other stylists how to grow their business and we’ve actually got women in

5:38

the community who are your clients too which and they’re like this is amazing her Mastermind is amazing so um so she’s

5:45

got such a a beautiful business background and I think what’s really fun if you’re up for it would be to talk you

5:52

know not just about um I’d love to talk a little bit about the elements of personal style because every woman in

5:57

here in our group uh both here present who will watch the replay um we are committed to having it all and doing it

6:04

in style too right so every woman is elevating her money her business her

6:10

finances her life but also I would say it’s probably common in this group that like a lot of women enjoy fashion or

6:17

like they want to show up as the best version of themselves so I think it’d be really fun to talk about that because it’s such a big part of your expertise

6:24

as well as um I know you talk about like how to land dream boat clients and because you’ve built and scaled like you

6:31

know I’d say multiple successful businesses right now too so with all of that being said do you want to say hi

6:36

and actually get a word andse and introduce yourself I know I’m loving it I’m just listening um I apologize if you

6:43

guys see me dab my eye I have like um allergies sometimes and it makes my eyes

6:49

just like cry I’m not sad I’m very happy but if you see me downb my eye that’s why um but yeah I am so excited to be

6:57

here with you guys I am Kate Taylor it did take a long time for me to um get here because we are quite

7:04

busy um and I for the people watching on replay thank you for watching on replay

7:11

originally the we were the normal time that you guys meet I think is 6 AM my time and I was like oh I love Elyse but

7:18

I cannot do 6 am. I can’t do that um yeah but I am a

7:26

personal Fashion Stylist for badass entrepreneurs that are you know big names out there making a difference

7:33

really my driving force behind styling entrepreneurs is that they are also

7:39

having impact um I became a stylist by way of almost going to medical school so

7:45

obviously a very normal track um toally and took a hard left um but in the

7:52

beginning of my business coming from a science background I was just very used

7:57

to you know you study you get good grades and like you move along and and all is well and I came into this

8:04

creative space where people were saying you have to suffer and you have to struggle and you know you you can’t have

8:10

it all and you have to like choose and and I just like immediately something in my body was like I think I’m I’m not

8:17

gonna cuss I I call BS on that let’s just say that uh and I just determined

8:22

that I was going to figure out how to do it and then I would teach any stylist that would listen to me like literally if you’ll listen to me I’ll teach you um

8:30

so that’s what I did I built multiple six figures in in each of the different areas of styling and then turned around

8:36

and about seven years ago now or maybe six um started building schools for

8:43

stylists and the first one was just like the technique of how to style and then

8:49

from there I built more business components so business of style is our second School boss um where we teach the

8:56

business components and really support the stylist in mentorship around business and then I have a top tier

9:02

Mastermind called Front Row stylist and that’s where we really cohort for a year and it’s a true

9:09

Mastermind um and it’s awesome so that’s kind of what I do um I live in LA and I

9:17

moved here during the pandemic like a true crazed person um but I was living in Boston for 15 years and when the

9:26

pandemic hit I was like I can’t do first of all I was like wintered out like I

9:31

don’t I don’t know where if you guys live near Boston or in anything you know I just moved to Maine by the way I’m oh

9:37

my god did you rcing myself no it’s gonna be fine part uh where am I living

9:42

Falmouth like near Portland oh okay yeah yeah I’m just laughing about the winter out gorgeous is beautiful yeah as long

9:49

as you well thing is you’ve I was a single woman digging out my car every

9:54

snowstorm and I got real sick of it so you won’t have to do that so don’t worry about that um but yeah I I just was wintered out I was

10:01

like I can’t do another winter and especially if you’re telling me I have to be in my apartment the whole time

10:07

like I was just like no it’s not happening for me so I up and moved

10:12

across the country and I now live here in LA but I go back and forth between here and Boston because I still have a

10:18

ton of clients in Boston so I go back every three months to see our style clients that are still there um but I

10:25

live here with my partner and our dog and two cats and yeah building multiple Empires at the

10:31

same time you know gosh never a doll moment and I do remember that

10:38

um that conversation that you’re talking about the activity and I remember being like Elyse I am drawing a line you are

10:46

flying first class like I remember having a conversation was that when I decided to fly first class yes that was

10:51

I think that was the first time I had flown internationally first you flown and you’re like but it’s like I’m gonna I’m not gonna do it all the time that

10:57

was like so nice but I was like yes you are going to do it all the time absolutely you are and then you found

11:03

out that you were pregnant I was like now you’re definitely doing it like yes you are you were a godsend I

11:10

forgot that that was one of the things we talked I owe you so much you trying to be very reasonable and I was like

11:15

we’re not being reasonable here this is this is not the place for reasonable this is the place for enjoying your life

11:21

ladies I’ve come a long way to you can hear this you’re like do at least ever try to be reasonable you were

11:28

I think like we can Ed right at the beginning where I was like no I’m changing a lot of stuff and I remember like now that conversation I remember

11:34

that and that’s so beautiful so thank you for bringing me to reason actual reason with

11:39

that I love it it was so good it wasn’t hard you were like I think you were at the Tipping Point because you’re like

11:45

yeah I think you’re right I think you’re right let’s let’s yeah I’m gonna do it like it wasn’t like a oh I don’t know

11:50

you were like you were there you just once you do it you can’t really go

11:56

back so um I think said something too that’s so fun and you all will feel this in Kate’s energy and this is something

12:02

that is so like I’ve been really playing with this word this year of like Unapologetic um and tapping into that

12:10

and there’s this I think it’s just fun to listen to you talk because it’s like this and it’s not an a um not in an ego

12:17

way it’s like an ownership way like owning your space owning what you’ve done owning who you are and what you want which is so aligned with the women

12:24

in this group too my partner says that all the time like the I I don’t recognize that myself necessarily

12:30

although I don’t feel uncomfortable in any room but my partner will say you

12:35

just take up space and you’re okay with it like and not in a bad way of like God you’re taking up so much space like

12:41

you’re just you’re okay with taking up space you’re not gonna apologize for being a woman you’re not gonna apologize for taking up space and I was like hell

12:47

no I’m never gonna apologize for that I love that I love that let me ask you Kate what is what is your preference for

12:55

today do you have something you want to share with us or do you want to do Q&A no let’s do QA I love I I mean I could

13:01

look you guys I could talk about anything for hours but I would love for you guys to get what you want the most

13:07

so I’m happy to talk about anything ask me questions let’s just dive into what’s going to be the most help helpful okay I

13:13

love that so let’s do it this way um I’ve I’ll kick us off because I’ve got like 18 million questions I want to ask

13:19

you but ladies will you um let’s just do it the way we do in our normal calls like put your name in line in the no

13:26

don’t do that just raise your hand raise your let’s do that going to be easier raise your hand if you’ve got a question you want to ask um Kate again I think

13:33

both on the the style front and building your your brand in that way and your personal image of how you show up as

13:39

well as building and running multiple businesses and Empires which I know some of you do um and then I also want to

13:46

talk about taking up space a bit so so let’s start here let’s actually here’s my question and then anyone else just raise your hand this is such a fun

13:53

opportunity um so hold on I oh yes okay so with personal

13:59

style yeah and how we present ourselves um I have found that as I

14:07

elevate my own self-concept the clothes that once felt okay they don’t feel okay

14:13

anymore um and yet stepping into like what is what am I going to wear at this

14:19

new level in this iteration and how am I going to present myself and I find sometimes it’s like there’s something I

14:25

that like really speaks to me I’m like oh the old me would feel uncomfortable wearing that or it would be too loud or

14:31

take up too much space or so what are what are some of the things that you coach women through so your your clients

14:37

your badass entrepreneur clients like how do you help them really craft what is that next image that of how I want to

14:43

show up in my style and then start to live into it and embody it I’d love to hear that yeah well first we start with

14:50

a place of style is not just a superficial thing um it’s I’m the least

14:56

judgmental stylist you’ll ever meet I mean you you know you’re kind of catching on probably just by Elyse and

15:02

stories but I’m not ever going to judge anyone I don’t think there’s any point in that I’m always going to love and

15:09

accept everyone that’s just who I am and that falls right in line with how you’re

15:14

showing up in the world as well so I come from a space of style is not just

15:20

something superficial it’s actually your opportunity to share with the world what

15:25

you are passionate about and what you find to be true and what you find to be

15:30

important you are a walking representation of whatever message you want to send and you could dealer’s

15:37

choice on what you want to say and how you want to say it right but if I gave each one of you a megaphone and you

15:42

could say one thing to the entire world and you were able to tap into it right now and You’ like well I’d say this and

15:48

this it’s probably something that you do in your business or in your life that you’re passionate about you want to make

15:53

sure that you’re also saying that with how you’re showing up in the world and for two reason reasons one uh you

16:00

deserve to walk around feeling just as confident as you want to feel and if you

16:06

are here and you are listening to me you likely have some sort of passion to

16:11

impact other people’s lives and when we keep ourselves in a place of being small or not being the visual representation

16:17

of the message we actually keep oursel from being able to connect with those people that need you that want you that

16:24

would love to find you but you’re the best kept secret right now because because you’re hiding or you’re not

16:29

actually representing what you want to be saying so we start from the place of your style is your message your style is

16:38

um how you deserve to show up in the world and if you’ve accomplished great things great let’s let’s make sure you

16:44

look that part not meaning like okay great you you’ve made a lot of money now go buy all uh Chanel No I’m just saying

16:52

like show up in the way you want to be showing up right so how we start with

16:57

any clent client is what is the message you want to share so we create what I call style words and it’s what I teach

17:04

my stylist to do as well um but I we do five words and the beauty of working

17:10

with a stylist that works in the way I work because other people don’t do this but it’s a co-creation process so I am

17:18

never going to be a stylist nor are any of my stylists that I teach and train going to be stylist that come in and say

17:23

this is your style here’s what you’re going to wear you’re going to listen to me have a nice life like no that’s just

17:29

not how I am I don’t drive with that I think it’s like weird and icky it’s it feels used car salesman to me it’s I

17:36

want it to be a co-creation so let’s talk about what’s your message what do you want to be saying okay great how do

17:41

you want to be saying that what kind of stylistic things really light you up we co-create and then from there we get to

17:48

go into the closet or go shopping or both create looks so that our folks feel

17:54

confident and wonderful and powerful and in their full self at all times and

18:02

um it’s really important to understand the power of that because if you are meeting people I mean you guys know this

18:08

just in the very basic level first impressions are a big deal right and the

18:13

number six decision people make about you is whether they trust you that’s before you ever say a word so if we’re

18:20

living lives or running businesses or trying to impact people and trust is part of that which it is we want to make

18:27

sure that we’re sh showing up in a way that emanates that right so it’s it’s a

18:34

lot more psychology and maybe that’s just my version because I’m also obviously a science nerd if I was going

18:39

to go to medical school um but there’s more psychology in it and there’s more power in it that I think a lot of people

18:45

allow themselves to see because it’s very easy to find something that is uh

18:50

not in someone’s wheelhouse and then watch them say it’s not that big of a deal it’s not important like who cares

18:56

what I do is way more important than what I look like and true true what you

19:02

do is very important but also what you are showing up as visually you could say

19:08

is equally important as as you can understand you’re your walking marketing team in the beginning until you have

19:15

other people talking about you you’re doing the talking and you’re either doing the talking with your messaging or

19:20

your voice or the way you’re just showing up so that’s a long-winded way of saying that’s kind of how we start we

19:26

land on this is a co-creation we want this to be the message you you feel Comfort comfortable with now

19:32

there’s always like a a Tipping Point right people will always have a comfort level where they’ve shopped how they’ve

19:38

shopped um the looks they’ve put together we’re always going to keep some of that to to keep the Comfort there but

19:44

it’s my job as a stylist and my stylist that I train it’s their job as well to push beyond what is currently

19:50

comfortable or normal a little bit meaning it’s a stylist job to see the

19:56

next level version of you and sty you for that because then that style is also pulling you up into that because you’re

20:02

the embodiment of it I’m sure at leise talks about this but you can’t say I want a cup of water and not have a cup

20:09

so you have to be the vessel that that all the things that you’re wanting come to right you have to already be that

20:15

person not say oh yeah yeah Kate I’ll I’ll get dressed in the way I want to get dressed and style myself when I and

20:23

pushing it off you got to be that person now and sometimes being that person now is showing up physically confidently

20:31

dressed as that person like what does the million-dollar business owner look like how does she carry herself how does

20:37

he work how do they interact with people what is their confidence level like and asking yourself those questions and

20:43

saying now how can I do that now so that I am that vessel now and I’m not pushing it off for when I’ll do it

20:50

when it’s a long answer to your question so good no it’s so good and you said and

20:57

you you said something that we teach but in a different way and I love how you said it you can’t say I want a cup of water and not have a cup right is that I

21:04

think that’s why I love that yeah it’s like people saying yeah yeah I’m gonna do it then and it’s like well you’re

21:09

just pushing it off that’s not you’re not actually gonna do it then because you you just keep saying I’ll do it when

21:15

instead of saying I’m this is who I am now yeah absolutely that’s I’ve been having a lot of fun because I’ve got

21:21

such a vision right now of where we’re going as a company and where our office space is going to be and like a lot of

21:27

you know a lot of different fun things there and like like every day I’m dressing like her like I’m dressing like I go in the office I don’t this this is

21:33

it it’s not but it’s but it’s a different energy it is a different energy um and that’s part of the

21:40

becoming I think it’s a way different energy it also expedites your manifestation so if you’re wanting a Quant templete moment where you’re like

21:47

I really you know I I can see myself there I can Vision it like I I know that’s where I’m headed then be her now

21:53

yeah be her now and Quantum Leap that like make it happen quicker collapse the time line it’s so good I want to ask and

22:01

then again if as you’re listening if you have questions again about personal style how you’re presenting and showing

22:06

up even for you personally for I think what’s beautiful about being here live with Kate like I don’t know how deep we can go but maybe there’s some pointers

22:12

on for individual women like if you want to elevate into this type of message or that positioning what can we do so yeah

22:18

raise your hand ask questions on that or the business side um I have a question though uh I do want to ask about taking

22:26

up space unapologetically MH so we talked about that a little bit at the beginning I used to struggle so

22:33

much with that and I still find every time I Elevate there’s another level of comfort I have to reach with taking up

22:39

even more space and it challenges the old version of me yeah was it always

22:45

easy for you personally to do that and just be super visible like can you can you talk a little bit about your journey

22:51

there and how you got to a place where you feel really confident taking up so much space yeah no it was definitely not

22:56

comfortable um I well okay I’ll say this I’ve never

23:02

been shy like so so that’s part of it right is like I’ve not been someone

23:08

who’s like waiting to be spoken to I typically am doing all the uh speaking

23:13

first my mom tells stories about how we would be in the airport and i’ would be like I don’t know three years old very

23:19

young and I would just Dart off and she’d be like oh my God and like chasing after me and I was just like finding

23:25

friends I’d be like hi and I just walk up to people and start talking so I’ve never really met a stranger so there

23:30

there is that side of me that’s like I’m not I’m pretty uh talkative and

23:35

friendly um but I will say that part of me especially when I started building my

23:43

business um it was interesting there was like a mix it got bigger and that I got more um

23:52

in my power because owning a business and running a business felt very aligned

23:58

and I was very excited to be in my alignment and I was accomplishing a lot of things um you know in person with

24:05

clients and all of that but I had to overcome a lot when it came to visibility online because I had fears around that I had fears around people

24:13

are going to judge me and what if I get it wrong and what if I don’t say the right thing and and what if they think

24:18

I’m stupid and I don’t know what I’m doing I’m I’m a baby at this and you know I had a lot of fears around that

24:25

that I had to really work through and I did that by way of working with a

24:30

mentor I did that by way of getting into action and really just allowing myself to see this is just another like treat

24:38

this like any thing that you have started Kate and not known how to do on

24:43

day one like any job you ever had day one you’re like am I gonna learn all of this and then like two weeks later

24:49

you’re like old hat whatever I got this it’s the same kind of thing where it was like okay this is uncomfortable but it’s

24:55

bumpy before it’s smooth so I’m going to just like keep doing it and build that muscle and then um you know I saw

25:03

success and I was experiencing a lot of uh visibility and all of that and then I

25:10

went through a bit of a Health crisis um I’m trying to

25:17

remember if it was before or after Venice I think it was

25:23

after anyway I think it was after it might have been before but it was right around that same time I went through a

25:29

Health crisis where I was working myself so hard that I had gotten adrenal fatigue and through the adrenal fatigue

25:36

and through testing realizing that what I actually had was an autoimmune disease

25:41

um called Hashimoto and I had gone from being someone who Not only was super successful but I was perfectionistic

25:48

type A about everything including my health so I was like

25:54

psychotic about how I ate and how I worked out and like I was an animal I was an animal and all of a sudden this

26:01

autoimmune um I couldn’t do the things I was doing before and I put on a significant amount of weight in a very

26:08

short amount of time un like unbeknownst to me on how it was happening so I was still eating crazy healthy and and

26:15

exercising and all the things so I went through another level of not being comfortable

26:22

online not being comfortable being seen I mean I I was still accomplishing

26:27

things because I am driven by impact and I’m driven by

26:33

integrity and I had given my word that I was going to do things and I was seeing that it was impacting other people so I

26:38

put myself kind of to the back burner and not really didn’t really think about myself but also was like I don’t want to

26:45

really be seen right now because I don’t feel comfortable and I don’t feel confident and I thought I was playing it cool and

26:54

then I went to an event where someone said to me oh my God you don’t look anything like your pictures and I was

27:00

like I’m GNA leave this event now because my pictures were me like 80 pounds ago so like yeah I know like it

27:08

was like thank you very much um and it was my own just like next level of okay

27:15

this is a new version of me that um is requiring not rest but like slow down

27:23

like she who sleeps the least does not win and I was playing by that game she who sleeps the least and works the

27:29

hardest wins and it was not allowing for freedom in my life it was not really allowing for confidence it was like

27:34

false confidence because I was accomplishing things but in a way that was like destroying my health right so

27:41

that was another level of being uncomfortable taking up space because I

27:47

was uncomfortable in my own skin which everything that I go through I’m I’m very happy I go through because I I am a

27:55

better teacher and a better mentor and a better stylist and a better friend um

28:02

just who I am once I experien something the my ability to be able to relate is different for me so I was able to relate

28:09

on a different level and just understand some people myself

28:15

included um feel uncomfortable for certain reasons whatever they are it’s

28:20

not right or wrong and the a lot of times those are beyond our control and I

28:27

live in a world where I kind of understood that but now it was a lived experience and I had to now work with

28:33

myself and say I am going to be comfortable and confident again to take

28:38

up space um but I’m not right now and I had to be really honest about that

28:44

especially coming from someone who had been so comfortable and confident with that it felt scary to

28:52

say all right I’m going to do this I’m going to look different I’m going to uh

28:57

um be a little shaky before I’m smooth again and what is that going to do to my

29:02

business like what is that going to do to my business what is that going to do to my relationships it was scary um but

29:08

I did I worked through it and it was a really beautiful awareness where I was

29:14

like my body is so powerful like so cool like I don’t care if it has weight I

29:20

don’t care if it’s doing this I don’t care like I have a powerful body and I want to show the world that you get to

29:28

still be comfortable and confident and impact and not allow those things to hold you back before I thought just

29:34

things that were holding you back is you don’t know how to dress now it was like no sometimes there’s things happening in

29:39

your life beyond your control that want to take you out and you even still have to show up because I can’t not show up

29:47

for my stylist and I can’t not show up for my clients because I know that what

29:52

they are doing requires me to also be of service to them and if if I’m going to sit in my own stuff that’s selfish so I

30:00

worked through it I showed up I did the work I put the work in um and it was it

30:07

was another you know Tipping Point like I said so no I have not always been comfortable and confident there have

30:12

certainly been times where I was at my own Tipping Point a couple times and for

30:18

one reason or not um things happened but it always came back to why am I doing

30:23

this why do I care what is my motivating my driving force and then my

30:31

values and when I tap back into that the beautiful thing this last thing I’ll say in this the beautiful thing around that

30:37

is I get to remind myself it’s not about me so my visibility stuff and all of that it’s not even about me it’s about

30:44

impacting other people and that I will show up for every single

30:50

time amen amen amen I’m taking some notes on what you said thank you for sharing that yeah so powerful I don’t

30:58

know that I’ve ever shared that you guys with anyone so thank you going with the intuition my number one styling tip

31:06

truly is is a little bit what Laura’s already had to do by force is make space like if you are looking to do anything

31:13

in your life along the lines of style especially for my entrepreneurs where you’re wanting to get more pieces you

31:20

feel confident in get more things that you um love even if it means designing

31:26

new things out of what you already own you still need to create space so my number one recommendation is create the

31:32

space first energetically psychologically and physically create

31:37

space allow yourself to have that so then you can give yourself the permission to play that I was talking

31:43

about uh earlier to just play with what do I already have that I haven’t used

31:48

the second piece of advice would be really land on a couple pieces that

31:54

make you feel like a total badass and what I mean by that is if I were to say

32:00

to any of you hey uh it’s last minute but there’s an event tonight there’s 300

32:05

people in that room that all want to hire you you just need to show up and like talk to them and then they’re ready to go what would you grab and if you’re

32:12

like I don’t freaking know then I need you to get at least two things in your closet that represent that one one thing

32:18

that’s a little dressier if it was like a Gala that you could just have like a black dress and whatever I put on a pair of shoes I’ve dressed it up fine the

32:25

other thing might be a different kind of dress or a Blazer or a really cool top

32:31

or maybe some awesome earrings that just like push you over the edge maybe a

32:36

beautiful necklace whatever but a couple things that you grab and it’s like

32:41

that’s your superpower like you it’s in that thing whatever it is and you’re like I got this put me in that room 300

32:48

new clients let’s go like that’s what I want you to have in your closet at least a couple pieces the end goal would

32:55

obviously be everything in your your closet would feel that great that’s that’s how I that’s what we work towards

33:01

um when we’re working with our clients is that they love everything in their closet and they know how to wear

33:07

everything so when you’re really getting into what do I wear in my closet give yourself permission to play look at

33:13

things you’ve never worn before things that you haven’t worn in a long time and pair them with something that you love

33:21

that is like your comfort your go-to whatever so like a great pair of jeans that you know I could put those on at any time

33:27

and then try that blouse you haven’t worn a while or try that jacket you’ve never worn whatever have at least one

33:33

thing on your body though that you already know like I love this so like I already feel good now I’m just trying

33:39

other things okay so give yourself permission to play and then also give yourself permission to release if you

33:46

find that this and this is the last little tip if you find that you have your words that describe how you want to

33:53

be seen in the world and what you want them to know about you that you’re smart or loving or an expert or whatever it is

34:01

that you want them to know and really ask yourself put the Garment on look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself

34:07

do I feel those words do I feel like I’m representing those words with this piece if the answer is no give yourself

34:14

permission to release it because there is someone else out there that actually will love that piece and and would

34:19

really love to wear it um but it’s no longer serving you so give yourself permission to play permission to release

34:27

and then really be the visual representation for your brand truly like truly ask yourself what is that and how

34:33

can I embody that in a in a stylistic way that’s what I would say that’s

34:38

powerful thank you so so much you’re welcome I love you I’m like gosh this love you too so I’m so grateful uh that

34:47

you were able to join us and make time and so for women to connect further Kate

34:53

I’d love if you can share more about um I mean I know obviously your working specifically with stylist but I think

35:00

like number one we’ll probably have women come through this program who would fit in that and who will watch the replay later and or I know women are

35:06

just gonna want to connect with you more and like maybe hire you for services or yeah so if you can share more about how

35:12

women can connect get in touch and then for everyone live and watching the replay they’ll so I’m it’s pretty easy

35:19

I’m kind of everywhere I’m Kate Taylor Stylist so my website is Kate Taylor Stylist my Instagram is Kate Taylor

35:25

Stylist um definitely connect with me on Instagram that’s where I’m the most active I will

35:32

0:02

Welcome to She Sells Radio. I have a very special it’s actually a best of episode

0:08

for you today which I have honestly rarely done over the course of over three hundred episodes now but I there there are a

0:15

couple of episodes that I personally go back to again and again and again

0:20

because every time I do I get a shift I get an elevation I have an up level an

0:27

ascension and this is an episode that uh that I have gone back to multiple times

0:33

myself and I was actually listening to this week while I was working out and I thought I have to bring this back on the

0:39

podcast um this is where I interviewed a  friend of mine an amazing woman Marie

0:45

Claire who went from literally homeless to seven figures

0:50

entrepreneur and she did it the feminine way now regardless of your gender as you’re listening when I say the feminine

0:56

way what I mean is that it was not about about hustling or efforting or

1:02

struggling her way there it was about allowing receiving

1:10

expansion um abundance and I know that if you’re a listener of this show that

1:16

you want all of those things for yourself and that you are Desiring them I’m guessing at a greater and greater

1:22

level and so I was listening to this this week while I was working out and I was so inspired I was like I want to bring this back on the show for you to

1:29

listen to because it’s buried now in The Archives of the podcast and I’m popping

1:35

it back to the top for you to listen to and to enjoy so you are going to have

1:40

such an amazing time listening to this um you’re going to get so many up levels for yourself and I want to invite you

1:47

now just to really listen in and be open to what is um what’s possible for you

1:54

when you’re ready to allow more into your life because you’re going to hear exactly how to do that in this episode

1:59

epode enjoy welcome to She Sells Radio today’s

2:05

guest is going to blow your mind my friend so get excited for a treat so

2:11

today’s guest is a sought after Beauty and lifestyle expert on social media

2:16

she’s an entrepreneur she’s a huge inspiration you I I would say

2:21

particularly for single mothers and women in business and you’re going to hear about her story today on the show

2:28

and it’s it’s so inspiring and her just a little teaser so she immigrated from

2:35

Haiti as a tea mom uh while raising her beautiful son Dominique who’s autistic

2:40

and epileptic epileptic and made the journey from welfare to homelessness to

2:45

bankruptcy to feeling unworthy and ashamed and now as a seven figure entrepreneur with her sales topping over

2:52

$167,000 a month which is like oh my gosh celebration so exciting so please

2:59

welcome mother licensed skin therapist and CEO of seven figure brand

3:04

acne expert skincare the incredible Marie Claire Marie welcome to the show today wow what an intro let’s roll that

3:13

in one more time I love that right you can play that as your morning

3:18

PumpUp but it’s you and it’s true and you did all of it and we want to know how oh my God tell us tell us your story

3:27

tell us how like how did how did you go from from te mom in Haiti to where you

3:32

are today yes um so I came here from Haiti when I was 16 pregnant and my

3:40

mother sent me here to have the baby because it was such shame and guilt and

3:46

you know I went to an all girl Catholic school and you you get that already and

3:52

I felt so horrible they kept it a secret no one knew I was pregnant so right

3:58

there you know I’m caring this guilt this shame I’m hiding right so I come to

4:05

the US I speak no English I give birth to my son

4:10

and of course he now has autism and epilepsy so I have to deal with all of

4:16

that on top of it I don’t understand what’s happening with him I don’t understand the diagnosis because I don’t

4:22

speak English so I am learning by watching TV uh a little side note All My

4:28

Children so I and throw back fun fact all my

4:36

children thank you and um and then I got on welfare because I needed support I

4:43

was 16 years old and um and and I always say I’m so grateful for the for for

4:50

welfare the welfare system here because there are people like me we truly needed that right so I was so beyond grateful I

4:58

felt so blessed I’m like oh my God this country is amazing they give help they

5:04

give help to people who need it and here lies my gratitude for the United States

5:09

of America I love this country so so much um because there’s so much to look at um you know that on the good side

5:17

right so um then what did I do Dan I went to adult school because I couldn’t

5:24

go to school in the daytime since I was a teenager with a mom I was watching my son in the daytime so I went to adult

5:31

school at night and got my GED and uh and then from there I got my

5:38

first job I believe when I was 19 so I went to the welfare office and told my

5:45

um my casew worker if you will that today is the day I I no longer need the

5:51

welfare I am standing on my own I got my first job she was so excited she cried

5:56

we both cried and um and I was just so proud and I remember my first job I was making

6:04

$113,000 a year and I was so excited I’m like oh my God I just I’m so happy I’m

6:11

making more than a thousand dollars a month and yeah I could barely survive on

6:17

it by the way but I was so grateful and

6:22

the life started to change you know I started to feel a little bit more confident because now I could take care

6:30

of myself right on my own and then of course I went to sleeping in the car

6:36

because I got evicted from where I was living because I could not afford the rent remember $113,000 a year I was

6:43

trying to make and meet and um you know and you know and I always had this sense

6:50

of dignity through it all like I carry myself well you would never know that I

6:55

was struggling financially because on the outside I look so well put together

7:00

which I think it’s one of the thing that helped me too because my energy was always one of I want to radiate what’s

7:08

inside of me because inside I really do feel radiant it’s just my

7:14

senses are not changing yet but I know that they will right yes how do I want

7:19

to pause you just really quick on that because I think that is something that regardless of where somebody is in their

7:26

life Mar CLA if they’re not where they want to be yet knowing how to radiate

7:32

that confidence that energy like even for you while you were sleeping in your car was that something did you just know

7:38

how or had you been taught my parents like how did how did you do that even when you’re in this what most people

7:44

would say is incredibly tough situation totally I attribute that to my faith um

7:51

and my mother it’s a gift from my mom I grew up my mom was always a Praying Woman she would pray I grew up Catholic

7:58

they were doing no we went to church every Sunday my mom always whenever something was going wrong or going right

8:05

my mother would pray so I was like oh okay so it was ingrained in me so

8:11

sleeping in the car very tough by the way tears depression and I always said

8:17

why why me why am I going through this right so and then when you look back when I look back

8:25

and see that wow I don’t know where I got the strength from but can tell you it’s from my Fai from my faith I always

8:33

rely on prayer till this day I am prayer is my number one source of strength and

8:39

guidance it still is and um and my mother always said that it’s like you

8:45

know it’s like you have to carry yourself well like my mom always instilled that in me she said no matter

8:51

what wear the lipstick wear the high heels I started to wear heels at 14 oh

8:56

my goodness I love but was it’s a gift that she gave me people used to be like

9:02

God you’re just so tough on her and whatever but she was preparing me for the world so when I show up in the room

9:08

I radiate I’m not afraid to shine I’m not afraid of my beauty I I welcome it I

9:16

know that I’m beautiful no matter what society says like I am my own standard of beauty so it’s something that comes

9:23

from my mom it really is a gift that she gave me and I believed it and I really do I did believe it and it’s working

9:31

well for me right so caring myself um the way I feel inside just showing up as

9:37

that so um yeah so that was part of the journey too and then eventually I ended

9:43

up in Corporate America and I was in human resources and thought that I was

9:50

just gonna throw parties I’m like human resources that’s what I want to do it’s just a big party

9:57

it’s a big party uh because people would see me as like you’re the atal manager I’m like yes and

10:04

they’re like you just don’t look like an atal manager I’m like I know I know

10:09

because I was just too happy I was too happy red lipstick bold like who does

10:15

that where’s your turtleneck right where’s your turtleneck no shame the

10:21

managers okay no sh but I was you know the one I was just very vibrant and then

10:28

I realized oh my God you do fire people in Human Resources uh oh that’s not what

10:34

I want to do right so throughout my career in Human Resources my son just

10:42

got worse like his epilepsy he liter he probably would have a seizur TW 12

10:47

seizures a month oh and that was unbearable I I got tired of calling in

10:53

sick right so because in Corporate America as you know you get sick sick

10:59

days a year in in in the US um I would run through that like water literally

11:06

like January boom it’s gone and the fear of one day I’m going to crawl in sick

11:15

and I’m just gonna get fired like they’re gonna tell me not to come back I I carried that fear with me and then at

11:22

the same time too my soul started to say what’s next

11:28

what’s next what’s next and I didn’t know what was next I’m like what is next

11:33

what what is that calling and I would drive to work I remember being in the

11:39

car um thinking God I just don’t want to do this anymore but what am I meant to

11:44

do and it was one morning it was one of Dominic’s doctor’s appointment and his

11:50

doctor was in Beverly Hills and I remember it was it was lunchtime maybe

11:56

121 and he had to get get an EEG and all that so it’s probably two or three by

12:02

then and I’m walking to my car and all these women just eating having lunch

12:07

just ease just ease and Grace is just flowing through them I can feel it iten

12:16

how come you’re not rushing back to the office so I’m like oh my God ladies you

12:21

look so beautiful what do you do oh we own our own business and I said oh

12:26

walking to the car I said I have to own my own business that’s

12:32

what it is wow I need to just I need to feel the way these women felt like I

12:40

could see it being demonstrated in front of me so now what is it that I’m going

12:46

to do right so this is this is the the question that came all what is it that

12:52

I’m meant to do what it is that I meant to do so I was Al always interested in Beauty I was the girl you would find at

12:59

Sephora all the time I was buying everything cream moisturizers I also use

13:06

I still I am I’m acne prone here’s one I’m not lying I’m acne prone and I was always

13:15

breaking out and could not figure out why am I breaking out breaking out so

13:20

often right so I would buy things return them buy more things still breaking out

13:27

love lipstick love um doing my makeup and I said oh you know what I’m going to

13:33

just jump and do makeup so I’m going to side hustle so I started I took out a

13:40

little ad in um in Craigslist if you guys remember oh my gosh that’s a

13:46

throwback I love the throwback references today yes yes way back then

13:52

wow I took it I put a little ad makeup artist I do weddings and and whatnot

13:57

didn’t have any training but I’m like I can do this I can do this and was pretty

14:02

good at it right how did you get I want to pause you really quick how did you get because I think one of the things

14:07

that is most I’m just I love love love in your story is this confidence like so

14:13

many women that I work with think well I’ve got to get a license before I can do this or I’ve got to get another certification before I can start

14:19

promoting myself and sometimes you do like depending on what it is that you’re doing but oftentimes it’s a mask for

14:27

fear it’s a coverup for fear so how did what would you like for a woman who’s

14:32

who’s feeling like oh I just I feel scared to put myself out there I feel like maybe I need another certification

14:38

another license what would you say to her how can she borrow some of your confidence oh my God you just gotta say

14:43

yes and it’s sounds so easy but there’s some work that’s that

14:50

required right so like hiring a Coach reading self-improvement books doing

14:56

affirmation incantation and seeing yourself as the person that you see in

15:02

your head right it sounds so easy but it’s practice practice practice so I

15:08

always say so what’s the next step right what is the next step what is the next

15:13

step what is the next step so my first step was to take a little ad on craist

15:19

and I’m just you know I’m not doing something major I’m not saying I’m going to take out an ad on TV it’s Craiglist I

15:26

can do that right and and then also to the nagging feeling

15:32

I know women we feel this because we’re so intuitive you get that God but if I

15:37

don’t do this I’m just going to regret it it’s like yes you have like every day

15:43

it nags at you it just it’s here every day every day it’s like I can’t leave like that I don’t know about you I

15:50

cannot leave like that it’s like I have to do it right so when I was there that

15:55

girl there 12 years ago who took and add on Craigslist I just was so tired I was

16:03

tired of feeling unfulfilled in my line to five that’s what it was I was tired

16:10

and I knew my heart you know what always trust your heart yes my heart knew it

16:18

was going to be okay my head said oh my God you’re leaving your corporate job to

16:24

side hustle where I wasn’t leaving like you have Marie you have a good paycheck you have 41k oh my God stop it already

16:31

just be grateful and my heart is saying there is

16:37

more there is more there is more so and I couldn’t deny it I just could not deny

16:44

it I’m very I’m a curious person too I just have to see what’s on the other side of that right so

16:51

that I started to side hustle and I was getting clients I was charging back then

16:58

and I was charging like 125 for brides right but I worked so hard for that 125

17:07

I tell you I worked so hard because I had to go to their reception do their

17:12

touchup and um I was like okay this is not enough maybe I need to now just work

17:18

for MAC Cosmetics so I ended up working for MAC Cosmetics just to make the story

17:24

short okay that wasn’t that either because I got to meet quotas like I’m not very saly in my head I what is the

17:32

word here I don’t see numbers I just want to just feel fulfilled that’s innately that’s how I am so doesn’t

17:40

matter how much I make if it’s not fulfilling I’m not gonna stay right so

17:46

if I’m I’m like I gotta count how many lipsticks did I sell today it just took out the fun it just it just didn’t make

17:52

it fun anymore so quit Mac went back to corporate

17:58

America o turtleneck land I so much love I know we have a lot of corporate women

18:04

who listen too and I’ve been in corporate and so no because I was not making enough money

18:10

and I said I just gotta go back to Corporate America so how did you handle that did it feel like defeat at that

18:17

moment as hell yeah was I and I said well you know

18:23

what I’m just going to go back I have a plan until I figure out what it is that I need to be but I know that the money

18:31

will actually just settle my it will just bring in some more ease right

18:36

because I was looking for the E but this is not what I wanted today so to do so back to HR so back to HR got a SCU the

18:44

resume iando job in Beverly Hills um at a very fancy sports club like just

18:52

celebrities and oh my God I mean the membership is like 2,200 a mon can I

18:59

tell you like that’s a very it was very high Vibe I loved it there I loved the

19:05

vibe but still did not enjoy being a human resources manager

19:12

so one day I am at I’m at Sephora with

19:17

my cousin and a girlfriend and um they’re like you know Marie CLA you’re so good at skin care and you’re always

19:24

telling us you’re always reading ingredients and and stuff like that you think you know what you you could be

19:30

a great aesthetician in the light Bob just

19:36

went I said that’s what I meant to be doing that’s what yes skin care

19:43

aesthetician mind you my mother had told me that before and I never I was like no

19:49

I’m not gonna be an aesthetician she’s like oh my God because you’re doing makeup and you can teach people um how

19:56

to take care of their skin like no that’s not what I meant to do no I think it’s because it was coming

20:03

from my mother right often times right and we’ve got a hear something at the right time too yes you know yeah totally

20:10

and I think my soul was ready to hear it when I tell you two weeks later I was in

20:15

skin care school two weeks later and it was so easy went appli fill at the

20:21

paperwork paid the fees got on my monthly plan to play the student loan

20:27

and w I was in skin care school and I was so happy I was the best student in

20:36

the classroom okay my teacher knew she looked at she’s like something special

20:43

like I I couldn’t wait to get to to school every morning like I was so happy

20:50

I’m like I found my passion so from there life started to change I when I

20:57

got into skin care school I knew that I was going to work for myself because remember those ladies right that I saw

21:03

having L yes they own their own business so the whole time I’m like I’m gonna own my own business I’m gonna be my boss My

21:11

Own Boss so finish skin scare school and I started to open a studio in um where I

21:21

was living so I was renting a house in Glendale and it had a back house and I was like I I’m going to turn that into a

21:28

skincare Studio you have to apply for license and and and everything like the state has to um give your approval so I

21:35

took all the steps and when you’re meant to do something I really believe that

21:42

there is a lot of ease that comes with it because you’re meant to do it and

21:48

even when you’re faced with challenges you’re you’re so happy you’re

21:53

so in the moment they don’t even feel like challenges right like there are people people would have been like oh my

21:59

God they said no the first time I’m GNA quit because I have to make the hallway like it has to be this wide this length

22:06

and you gotta have water here and there I gotta hire a plumber some people would be like I’m gonna quit I don’t want to

22:12

do all that to me I was like oh it’s gonna be perfect right because I was just so happy I felt so at home so those

22:20

challenges just felt like okay I’m just their stepping stone what else am I meant to do so open my first Studio no

22:27

one came for how long for how long the first

22:33

month I fell I think I made $20 and it was from my friend oh my god

22:41

of course to can add on Craig remember Facebook back then was not a thing we didn’t have ads we didn’t have in

22:49

Instagram was not even a thing when I started yeah and I said well I have to

22:55

supplement this income so I I went to work for a dermatologist and best thing I’ve ever

23:02

done because it you know the universe is kind I got what I needed working for

23:09

this dermatologist who was also a plastic surgeon he only worked with um

23:15

acne patients yeah and I took classes at UCLA

23:22

about ingredients and how they affect the skin I learned so much from him I became a medical aesthetician that would

23:29

have never happened had I not you know if I was just successful on the Geto or

23:36

you know that I was booked the universe was guiding me there and so I I want to

23:41

pause you really quick on that Mar Clair because how did you stay committed to

23:47

your vision in that moment because some people would take that as a sign like oh it’s just not meant to be or this is too

23:53

hard how but how did you no doubt you probably dealt with feelings of

23:59

disappointment and maybe fear you know all of that but how did you know to stay

24:04

committed to the vision and to just pivot rather than throwing in the

24:11

towel this is where you know you’re gonna hear me say that a lot I really

24:16

follow my heart I really I am I don’t function from a here I do sometimes

24:22

usually what gets us in trouble right when I have to look at my p&l and de

24:28

centers now because I’m running a seven figure business but there’s always balance there

24:35

so again my faith big thing here this is this is my story this is how I got

24:42

through it right so I started right around that time I started to discover

24:48

authors like Wayne Dyer um Wayne Dyer Lis hay Esther Hicks

24:56

Michael Becket Michael Singer like all these all my favorites yeah oh my God and um I read

25:05

the book The Power of intentions and it changed my life and from reading that

25:11

book it’s by Wayne diai um by the way I met him person like that’s a fun Side

25:17

Story I manifested that but I just knew that I was just going to

25:25

follow where my heart was leading me it’s very hard to do when you listen to society that says

25:35

You must do this you must do that you must follow your head you must be practical and all of that it’s

25:44

hard to do but I promise you it’s like you’ve been doing that for so long and it’s not

25:49

working why not give yeah why not try it this way right so end up working working

25:58

for this dermatologist plastic surgeon became a medical

26:04

esthetician of course my confident grew with that because now I have more

26:10

practice under my belt and I said I’m going to Pivot and I’m gonna focus on

26:17

only seeing customers who have acne in the meantime I’m working on at home on

26:23

the weekend uh they don’t even know that like I don’t tell them like I have a side Hustle but I’m putting into

26:29

practice everything that I’m learning right so from there um when at that time

26:35

then this is where the story comes and I I met my first coach Gina De Gina we

26:43

gotta give a shout out gotta give a shout out is how we met yes because she

26:48

changed my life she was one of the women that really changed my life and I think

26:54

I was ready right so when di Louis say then I hear this woman talking about your worth

26:59

and I’m like I gotta go I gotta learn more about this woman she was on a call

27:05

and talking about living in a feminine way I’m like oh this is this this is my tribe right I’m like yes tell me more so

27:13

went to an event she was doing in Santa Monica and I was able to be in the

27:18

hotset if you will where she was she did like a laser session on my business and I remember telling her oh I’m charging

27:24

$45 and she screamed she’s like what are you insane look at you everyone please

27:30

look at Marie CLA she charges $45 for a treatment then you got a scalp massage

27:35

put oh my goodness and she made me look

27:41

at my worth and she’s like you’re worth so much more why AR you aren’t you charging

27:48

your worth and I said but who’s gonna pay that much for a facial she said you

27:54

are a medical aesthetician what your bringing to table if you believe you work Charing more

28:00

than you should right and I started to work on that I’m like so little by little I started to increase my prices

28:07

and then I moved the office to Beverly Hills um and I mean it’s such a long

28:13

story I want to cut it short but moved to Beverly Hills and then I decided that

28:20

when I switched to nishing and only seeing people with acne

28:26

my business exploded like I could my book I was booked all the time I was

28:34

booked all the time because I was known as now I’m now the acne expert so people

28:41

came to me just for acne I didn’t wax I didn’t do lash painting I didn’t do any

28:46

which I did not enjoy doing by the way so stick to what you enjoy doing and

28:52

because in the beginning I would offer everything I would work my tail to the Bone I’m like I got a wax I got to do

28:57

this I got to do that but I my love really I had I had a love for acne because I was in acne suffer as well so

29:06

booked and then I realized one day and I didn’t realize it came to me you should

29:11

have your own skincare line what I’m like you gotta be kidding me

29:18

how where with what money how do you do that yeah no kidding and I started to

29:25

look at the ingredients of the skincare I was selling other brands to my

29:31

customers right so you you know like when you go to a spot they like oh you need this Moisturizer in this sunscreen

29:37

that’s what I was doing and um and then I would look at the list of ingredients from what I I was like oh my God I’m

29:43

selling them the wrong products how how do I start and that was a two years

29:50

journey and found a manufacturer and let me tell you little

29:57

by by little I started with three products and now I have 42 products and

30:03

you know sales are at 167,000 and let me tell you when I say

30:11

this I keep pinching myself because this is the girl who you know was on welfare lived on

30:19

cabbage and rice for a long long time and who now just living with ease and

30:26

Grace in prosperity and I am just I’m so fulfilled I feel so blessed I have a

30:34

great husband my son is doing great I take care of him financially 100% and

30:41

I’m able to give back to him now in fact one of my biggest

30:48

accomplishments I always get a little emotional when

30:55

that when when I started the business I’m crying too I don’t even

31:01

know what it is and I’m crying too I Dominique was is epileptic and I had to

31:07

put him in a group home because I couldn’t take care of him 247 because he

31:12

needs 24hour care so I put him in a group home and I felt horrible but I had

31:19

to do that in order to build a business and I said one day I’m just going to

31:25

take him back and and it took me seven years you know

31:31

and he started to put on weight and he had high blood pressure like he put on

31:37

60 pounds and the doctors wanted to put him on more meds and I remember last year I saw I saw him and I

31:45

said this is it I’m taking my son back and that was on a

31:50

Thursday by the next Tuesday I was signing list a list for his own two-bedroom two bath in Beverly Hills

31:58

and I hired full-time care for him so I’m just so grateful to be able to give

32:04

back to Dominic because we’ve been through so much together and when I tell

32:10

you Le like he lost 60 pounds in three months because he’s eating well um he’s eating

32:18

organic and he exercises with my husband and he is

32:25

thriving and if I were leave Earth today this is I will leave very happy and

32:31

peaceful because I get to give back to Dominique because

32:37

Dominique is my big wife so oh my God I’m just so

32:45

grateful I forgot every other question I was gonna ask you because that just made me cry really hard too oh my gosh

32:54

wow wow from one from a new mom mama’s heart to um to another mama’s heart that

32:59

is I know every woman listening gets that wow totally one thing I want to ask

33:05

you and your I’ve just learned so much listening to your story I know everyone everyone listening has as

33:11

well and you and I were even talking about this in the pre-chat is

33:17

about on your journey from like six to seven figures and our listeners are all different places some are wanting to

33:22

break their first six figure some are wanting to scale to seven and Beyond but

33:27

you mentioned it was the more you allow the more you surrender the more you stay

33:33

in your feminine the more the money came and I’m really curious to hear about how

33:39

you did that even as you’re scaling and there’s more team and there’s more to pay attention to and there’s more to

33:44

manage like how how did you do that and how do you stay in that receptive mode

33:51

in the midst of everything bigger that you’re managing now there is and author Esther Hicks yes

34:00

and she is big on feeling good is work I’ve been listening to her for years and

34:07

she’s one of the authors that changed my life as well and living in the receptive mode is

34:16

what she talks about all the time and even Gina um who was my coach in she

34:23

always talk about doing business the feminine way and it’s some that I had to learn it’s already in you

34:30

but I had to like bring it forward forward and um and truly believe that I

34:37

deserve it and truly believe that I deserve it and truly believe that it

34:43

didn’t have to be hard I had to do a lot of deprogramming a lot of it gotta work

34:50

hard it’s gonna be tough sweat tears you got to make your goals and it’s gota it’s got to scare you to death and and

34:57

all of that you got and I work so hard I burn my adrenals yeah and um you know and then

35:06

learning to just say I remember when I got to six figures and I wanted to get

35:12

to Seven figures and I had a conversation with Gina and she

35:18

said are you ready to allow it are you ready

35:24

to let go of the fear around your son Dominique because I had so much fear

35:31

around Dominique like always worri about him and she said when you start to do to

35:37

do this and you start to allow more she said it’s GNA get easier and easier and

35:45

I just have these practices I wake up I read a gratitude um I have my gratitude

35:50

Journal I meditate and it’s a practice it’s not like one day boom it happens

35:57

it’s a practice um and then you know I learned from all the everyone I’m like

36:02

everybody’s successful is saying the same thing it must be true when you listen to all these do you need to

36:09

listen to one other podcast that the person is saying I have a gratitude practice I meditate in the morning I

36:16

find something that bring me joy I mean they’re doing the other things too you know like of course you got to look at

36:23

your p&l you got to come up with your marketing strategy but they’re telling you oh I’m living gratitude so I started

36:31

Co was such a blessing for me because I discover my love for nature

36:38

and I would go on these long long walks and I’m obsessed with trees and I would

36:44

look at the trees I would just feel so much peace I would thank God for my life so I just started to thank God for my

36:51

life I just kept doing that and do you know like my life changed drastically I

36:57

didn’t do anything different I didn’t change my Facebook ads I didn’t I didn’t do anything different I just started to

37:06

feel grateful yes by walking and then there are these um I do these thing

37:12

called this thing called incantation I learned that from Tony Robin so this is where it’s not affirmation this is like

37:20

embodying embodying the energy that you want to be so I wanted to be a seven

37:27

figure entrepreneur right so how does it feel to be a seven figure entrepreneur

37:33

it feels like ease it feels like fun it feels like Freedom it feels like choices choices choices lots of choices it feels

37:40

like traveling first class it feels like tipping well it feels like the

37:46

impression of increase so you know what I started to do I started to tip people I tip 25% everywhere I

37:54

go I leave everyone with the impression and bring peace I wherever I go I bring

38:00

joy abundance Prosperity I treat my friends well I TI the valley guy five

38:05

to10 do I my nail lady I TI for 15 to $20 so I just started to do that more

38:15

and more and the universe started to show me like when you open your hands it

38:21

does too yes so and the more there’s evidence of it just grew my faith it

38:28

grew my confidence so and now I do it all the time this is who I I am you know

38:35

my name is mar Clare Kates and I am a thriver I’m the most blessed person on the planet everywhere I go people love

38:41

me things are always working out for me I’m a power manifestor I choose where the light is

38:49

that I in when I say this I walk around my house and I am just saying it with

38:55

power and confidence you know God’s wealth is circulating into my life his wealth flows to me in Avalanches of

39:02

abundance all of my goals needs desires are met instantaneously by infinite

39:07

intelligence I am one with God and God is everything I say this over and over

39:13

and over and over until I feel it sometime I Cry Sometimes I’m just I do

39:19

these incantations I do them on the street people think I’m crazy I don’t care but I’m in the flow because I’m

39:25

choosing me so this is what I’m doing I am just allowing my way into seven

39:34

figures that’s what I’ve been doing my husband will tell you the same thing like I’m just and then really really

39:41

really since we’re women really listen to me when I tell you this feeling good

39:47

is the work feeling horrible doubt fear this is not what I mean imagine God

39:55

creating us and just saying like yep you’re gonna suffer this is Imagine well

40:00

let’s make it realistic your parent your mother you give birth to your child and you’re like I’m Gonna Make You Suffer

40:08

that’s what I’m here to do suffer Everything you ask for I’m not gonna give to you yeah

40:14

water figure it out you want food work for it oh you want shelter and

40:20

clothing why don’t you work hard for it we don’t say that that’s how God we don’t say that can you imagine saying

40:27

that to your child oh my gosh never I love that analogy I’ve never heard it said that way before I love imagine like

40:35

oh you want food too bad you’re gonna suffer you are here we are here to

40:43

thrive we’re just we just need to allow it we just need to believe that’s what we’re here to do we’re here for

40:50

happiness we’re here to thrive we’re here for abundance prosperity and joy start changing your mind mindset that’s

40:57

what you’re here to do and every day when I tell you now I can tell you you

41:03

can’t convince me otherwise you cannot convince me otherwise because my life reflects it

41:10

the more I do it the more abundant I become I’m like oh my God to the point

41:16

my husband was very extremely extreme masculine like he’s a grinder

41:22

247 my husband one day said to me hm I want to know what you’re doing I want

41:28

to do what you’re doing so now my husband went from waking up at 5:00 A.M working out the day he doesn’t go to bed

41:35

until 12 oh he meditates he journals he plays golf he’s learning I’m like enjoy

41:44

life oh my God enjoy the process because it’s never done as soon as I reach I

41:51

remember as soon as I as I reach 15K a month I was like okay can I get to 20K can I get to 30 can I it never stops

41:58

stop and then you forget to enjoy it oh my god when tell you it’s harder to get

42:06

to six figures than it is to get to Seven figures because you’re working so hard yeah oh my gosh you’re working so

42:14

hard and then the minute when I tell you I work less I work less because I have to team to support me and this is a

42:22

decision I made for myself I said my business is going to help me with my

42:29

lifestyle I want to have I want to call my day I want to call my own schedule and this is what I do I have self-care

42:35

Mondays where I don’t answer the phone it’s all about me I get massages I get my nails done and I go on my walks and I

42:44

hired a chef I haven’t cooked since last September and listen I struggled with

42:51

that when I first I was like but I don’t enjoy cooking I could spend this four

42:57

hours doing something else and I tell you it’s so good to have a

43:02

sh for me and we don’t have to think my husband even was like what’s the big deal we don’t need it now it’s like we

43:09

have a chef who comes every week and make these laish meals for us and every week we’re just getting something

43:15

different it’s like oh my God there’s so much more good on the other side when we say thank you when we’re not trying to

43:23

just hold on to it and be like let me save another dollar let me let me let me save $200 to do this rather than say my

43:32

God what how much more EAS injoy by spending this 200 2,000 10,000 whatever

43:38

it may be is going to bring into my life you know and it’s just like for business
