[9:47] – It’s okay for your priorities to change every week, but be intentional.
[13:14] – Success is less about doing and more about planning.
[14:30] – Ask yourself what are the things you can do today that will make you feel the most successful each day?

[18:16] – Everything makes sense when we see it on a list or a calendar.
[21:22] – There’s a lot of pressure out there to do a million things.
[24:31] – We procrastinate because we think it will make us feel better by avoiding the thing we don’t want to do. But the longer we wait, the heavier we feel.
[25:54] – A major problem is a lack of boundaries.
[28:40] – Mridu shares a little about her podcast and how you can connect with her.

0:26
with two Littles under four so my guest
0:29

0:32
life is organized she’s a best-selling
0:34
author her book is called accomplish it
0:36
which I love and she’s the host of the
0:39
productivity on purpose podcast which I
0:41
was super honored to go on recently uh
0:43
she also has two two teen kids and she
0:48
understands mom life at a deep level
0:49
mixed with entrepreneur life so Mridu,
0:52
welcome to the podcast I am so happy to
0:54

0:56
we had such a great time when you on my

1:00

1:03
on you and so I’m just so honored to be
1:06
here thanks for having me oh thank you
1:08
well this is like one of my favorite
1:10
topics in conversations and I know it is
1:12
for our audience as well when I look at
1:14
the episodes with the highest rankings a
1:16
number of them are time productivity and
1:20
especially now with two little boys more
1:22
than ever like I love a check I have to
1:25
I literally have to have a checklist I
1:26
was trying to prep breakfast this
1:28
morning not breakfast lunches this
1:30
morning for both the boys and my husband
1:31
who was like hey can we talk about our
1:33
schedule later today I said don’t
1:34
interrupt me I’m in focus mode right now
1:36
one thing at a time so I’ve kind of
1:38
become this person who needs so much
1:41
more order and organization than I used
1:43
to um and I think that’s normal right as
1:46
our lives grow and expand we need more
1:47
order but uh but we don’t always feel
1:50
like things are organized we feel we can
1:52
feel overwhelmed we can feel behind now
1:54
I so that’s why I’m so excited to have
1:56
you on today to talk about all of this
1:58
tell us a little bit about your
2:00
background first so you were a
2:01
professional organizer is that right
2:03
before you started your business and
2:05
tell me a little bit about what got you
2:06
into that your journey and what it’s
2:08
been like to move into thought
2:10
leadership and coaching and working with
2:12
clients in this way yeah well when I was
2:15
back in the day working in corporate in
2:17
New York City I like you had had a
2:20
little baby and felt like my nanny was
2:22
bringing him up we were in New York we
2:23
had an opportunity to move to Nashville
2:25
which was not the it City it was 18
2:27
years ago it was not cool but the way my
2:30
husband got me there was he said listen
2:32
if you go you don’t have to work and I’m
2:34
like sign me up sister or brother sign
2:36
me up we’re there and although I then I
2:39
have my second son when I got here and
2:40
shortly realized that I really love my
2:42
work I want to get back to work but I
2:44
don’t want to get back to the corporate
2:46
grind so I started on this
2:47
entrepreneurial Journey really probably
2:49
like many entrepreneurs entrepreneurs
2:51
having no business getting into business
2:54
but I did and I started with home
2:56
organizing at a time when it was before
2:58
The Container Store and the home edit it
3:00
was you know again also no one knew what
3:01
it was um and it was it was wonderful I
3:04
loved it except I realized that what I
3:07
loved about it was not the physically
3:08
going in and doing homes but like
3:10
teaching people I didn’t love that they
3:13
were leaning on me I loved when they
3:14
were learning from me yeah so I took my
3:17
business online and started teaching DIY
3:20
classes and workshops and online
3:23
products and over time so now my kids
3:25
are growing up we have the business and
3:28
I’m realizing I am just not using my
3:30
time well unlike you I was not I was not
3:32
where you are right now I was just
3:34
flailing a lot I was couldn’t prioritize
3:36
I was feeling overwhelmed sometimes I
3:38
just feel like a failure at the end of
3:40
the day and so I just went on a personal
3:43
development Journey um to figure out how
3:45
to prioritize and use my time better and
3:48
I wish I could say it happened overnight
3:50
but um you know a couple years later
3:52
when I came out on the other side and I
3:54
really literally saw my life just
3:58
transform I was like I know there are
4:01
other entrepreneurs and other
4:02
professionals that are struggling with
4:04
the same things and so I mve my business
4:07
again TR made another transition to
4:10
productivity and time management and now
4:11
that’s what I do now I get to coach and
4:14
train and you know my vision my goal is
4:18
to help people be in control of their
4:20
intentions and their attention so it
4:23
creates a a ripple effective impact
4:25
across their careers and their personal
4:27
lives wow intention and attention it’s
4:32
so oh my gosh it’s so important and yet
4:35
one of the most challenging things right
4:36
like last night I was doing some sales
4:38
followup I don’t scroll Instagram that’s
4:40
like not my thing but at this potential
4:43
client who I was talking to she and I
4:44
were most connected in DM so I go to
4:47
send her a message and like 10 minutes
4:49
later I’m looking up from someone’s real
4:51
like why am I even here in the first
4:54
place yeah so maybe easier said than
4:57
done maybe that’s a limiting belief I
4:59
don’t know right this is something you
5:00
help people with so tell us a little bit
5:02
about I know you talk about there’s this
5:05
one thing that holds women back from
5:06
reaching their goals even though they’re
5:08
working so hard maybe it’s tied in to
5:11
what you just shared I don’t know but
5:12
tell us what is that and how do we
5:15
circumnavigate that yeah it really is
5:18
you know you know when you work so hard
5:20
you work so hard all day from the mo
5:22
moment you know you open your eyes till
5:24
you go to bed you’re doing all the
5:25
things for all the people and yet at the
5:27
end of the day you can have that feeling
5:28
like what did I get done today and it’s
5:31
so frustrating because you are putting
5:33
in so much energy and possibly even
5:36
burning out right and feeling exhausted
5:38
and still you’re feeling like I don’t
5:39
even feel accomplished today and I think
5:42
that so that one thing then that we
5:44
really are lacking it is this is part of
5:46
this intention and attention is the
5:48
focus or the clarity might be another
5:50
word is really just having the clarity
5:53
on what is most important to me and what
5:56
am I willing to sacrifice so that I can
5:59
that I can stay focused on those
6:00
important priorities and here’s the
6:02
thing I bet if I anyone listening if I
6:04
asked anybody here hey what’s the most
6:06
important things in your life you could
6:08
probably say things like you know
6:10
probably my business my family my health
6:13
right there there’s usually those top
6:15
few my relationships yeah but then if I
6:17
took a look at your calendar let’s say
6:20
it would not be aligned with those
6:22
priorities maybe with business a lot but
6:25
some of the other things seem to go to
6:26
the Wayside or or maybe it’s the
6:27
opposite or maybe we’re spending so much
6:29
time on
6:30
other things that we’re not getting to
6:31
the business right other distractions
6:33
and so it’s getting very clear and
6:35
honest and introspective about what is
6:38
truly most important I really love
6:40
journaling I think it’s such a cathartic
6:42
exercise of writing this out and seeing
6:44
it in front of you and being okay wait
6:46
if these are my top four you know
6:48
priorities in my life how am I really
6:51
showing up for them how am I addressing
6:52
them are they part of my
6:54
daytoday strategy my day-to-day thinking
6:57
my day-to-day scheduling and routine you
6:59
know how how am I really am I letting
7:02
other things get in the way and I think
7:03
it really starts with that Clarity and
7:05
then if you want to go deeper we can say
7:07
okay well then where do we go from that
7:09
but it’s it’s getting Crystal Clear not
7:11
just saying it in your mind or thinking
7:12
it but really like writing that down
7:14
almost like a Manifesto like these are
7:16
the things and how do I start creating
7:18
the space and the energy around those
7:20
yeah okay now I love this and I’ve done
7:24
I I’ve done that in different times of
7:26
life and it’s interesting because I feel
7:27
like as we evolve that changes too and
7:30
especially if we have kids um like right
7:33
now it’s been so interesting moving to
7:35
Maine and having to reestablish child
7:37
care and we were able to get Jack our
7:39
oldest in school with coverage five days
7:41
a week which I don’t part my mama heart
7:44
always feels a little conflicted about
7:45
that to be honest like he loves school
7:47
he thrives in it um I don’t use it all
7:49
the time but I like having it to have
7:51
the coverage and then our littlest Luke
7:53
though he’s not old enough to go in so
7:55
he goes to someone’s home three days a
7:57
week then he’s home with me two days a
7:58
week but prior to that I had five days a
8:01
week cover so it’s just so interesting
8:02
as we navigate these different seasons
8:04
of life it almost feels like we need to
8:08
reassess I don’t know quarterly annually
8:11
maybe that’s too long of a get but analy
8:13
like where where is my focus where is my
8:16
priorities uh where are my priorities
8:18
right now and then how can I readjust or
8:20
rearrange my calendar to help reflect
8:23
that right so do you encourage your
8:24
clients to do that on any sort of
8:26
regular basis just as Life Changes go on
8:28
and
8:29
situations adjust absolutely like I love
8:32
the idea of an annual plan I think it’s
8:34
it’s important it’s important as
8:35
business owners as just CEOs of our life
8:38
but I do feel like it’s really far out
8:40
like some you know it’s just it’s hard
8:41
to hold on to a goal that’s a year away
8:43
so then yeah I love to break it down to
8:44
quarters you know let look more 90 days
8:47
out and then really on the month and the
8:48
week too you know so when I work with my
8:50
clients I’m like we always say I always
8:52
tell them what is what are your top
8:54
three goals for this week let’s just
8:56
bring it back to like your dayto day
8:57
because it’s just too far out out now
8:59
most likely it’s going to be tied to
9:01
your quarterly and annual goals but it
9:03
can be different right because life is
9:04
always shifting it’s always evolving um
9:07
you know for let’s say this week if I’m
9:10
I’m not feeling really well so like this
9:11
week a priority is going to be my rest
9:13
and selfcare maybe more so than another
9:15
week right when when the priorities are
9:17
different but getting very intentional
9:20
right the intention the attention very
9:22
intentional about what are those goals
9:24
right now um and you we got to start
9:27
there it’s like reverse engineering from
9:28
the those goals or and working backwards
9:31
and fitting them in versus I feel like
9:33
we’re trying to get everything done in
9:34
our in our lives and then we’re trying
9:36
to squeeze in the priorities right
9:38
instead of making those priorities first
9:41
and then squeezing in all the other
9:42
stuff around it oh I like how you said
9:44
that yeah and that’s how we feel so when
9:46
I started I said you know we feel like
9:49
we got nothing done it’s a terrible
9:50
feeling but when you’ve hit those bigger
9:53
priorities every day week yeah then you
9:57
don’t end that way even though you’re
9:58
working you’re work kind hard s you’re
9:59
putting in the energy but you’re like I
10:01
just feel so much more accomplished I
10:03
feel so much more successful rewarded
10:06
just because I was I was able to move
10:07
the needle on those things that matter
10:09
the most to me I was journaling the
10:11
other day about this concept of living a
10:14
rich life right because we’ve got a lot
10:16
of listeners who they they come and a
10:19
part of my brand and what people are
10:21
here for is how do I generate more money
10:23
more abundance more more financial flow
10:27
and I think was definitely a time in my
10:30
life when I was so focused on just the
10:32
money that everything else went to the
10:34
Wayside relationships Health self-care
10:37
if you asked me what hobbies I had I
10:38
would have looked at you like a dared
10:41
headlights and so this this journaling
10:45
exercise of like what is a real rich
10:47
life so much more came about from it of
10:51
like I care about ultimately it’s
10:53
experiences right and I bet a lot of our
10:55
listeners may feel the same way like
10:56
experiences right time with the the kids
10:59
making memories laughing um obviously
11:04
business success and money success is
11:06
important but it was so much more robust
11:09
than just I want to make x amount of
11:12
money every year which is where where my
11:14
mindset was years ago I’m curious from
11:17
your perspective Mridu, how much of this
11:20
is mindset for women and I’ll give a
11:22
little context for that question too
11:24
because you mentioned towards the
11:26
beginning you know giving yourself
11:28
permission to really look at what
11:30
actually matters in life versus what
11:32
doesn’t yeah and I think a lot of the
11:34
women especially the women in our
11:35
audience who listen have been
11:38
conditioned that I’m only successful if
11:41
I’m working eight hours a day if I’m
11:44
grinding if I’m hustling that’s the only
11:46
way to be successful it’s push and not
11:49
that I’m not about intentional action I
11:52
am but I remember several years ago when
11:55
I I worked with a mentor who was running
11:58
a multi-million dollar business and she
12:00
worked three days a week not three days
12:03
a week excuse me three hours a day
12:04
raising three young kids and part of
12:07
what attracted me to like I want to know
12:09
your mindset where you don’t feel like
12:11
you have to work all the time and yet
12:13
you can bring in way more money and be
12:14
successful and also be present as a mom
12:16
but I see women like almost holding
12:20
themselves back with this belief of the
12:22
only way to be successful is if I’m
12:24
working 40 to 60 hours a day there’s no
12:26
way I’ll accomplish my income goals
12:28
speak a little bit that so I feel like
12:29
there’s some friction there for a lot of
12:31
people 100% I believe that success is
12:35
less about doing and more about planning
12:39
so in terms of like time management or
12:41
productivity right is way more about
12:43
planning okay so if there’s something
12:46
you you have to you would tell yourself
12:48
I think in the time when you’re like I’m
12:49
hustling and everything’s hitting me and
12:52
my phone is blowing up and my email is
12:53
going crazy the most counterintuitive
12:57
thought is let me just step back and
13:00
plan right the number one thing you want
13:01
to do is react you you want to just like
13:04
put your head down let me slam through
13:05
this let me go through it but what
13:07
happens is you you’re coming from that
13:08
reactionary place where you’re just
13:12
throwing in energy not really thinking
13:15
it through trying to cross things off
13:17
the list you’re still G to end up and
13:19
that day you’re still gonna be like I
13:20
got nothing done today right and and
13:22
you’re just like you’re feeling
13:23
exhausted and burnt out if you do the
13:25
thing that’s really counterintuitive and
13:27
it’s hard in the moment but you can
13:28
train yourself is pull yourself out of
13:31
the chaos momentarily 10 minutes right
13:34
and sit and just plan and think okay
13:36
here’s my laundry list of things to do
13:38
what are my three most important like
13:41
top priorities for the rest of this day
13:42
I only have a certain amount of time I
13:44
got to go pick up the kids and I got to
13:45
run to this meeting and I have a zoom so
13:47
if I could pick three things what would
13:49
make me feel most successful tonight and
13:52
that is actually the question that I
13:53
always ask myself ask my clients to ask
13:55
themselves is not again you know not
13:58
what what’s what’s the I don’t I don’t
14:00
know how else you might look at it but
14:01
what’s what’s the um you know most
14:04
important in any other aspect of what
14:06
would make me feel most successful so
14:09
typically the things that make you feel
14:10
most successful are the things that
14:12
you’ve procrastinated right the things
14:14
that you’re thinking about when you go
14:15
to bed at night you’re like can’t
14:17
believe I didn’t work out again or I
14:19
can’t believe I didn’t do that thing
14:20
again or that I yeah I got through a lot
14:23
of my emails but that one email that’s
14:24
been sitting there for two weeks because
14:25
it takes me time to think of the the
14:28
response didn’t do that again right yes
14:30
so that is actually a great way to
14:33
determine you know what that is because
14:35
that’s I think a hard thing you’re like
14:36
well how do I just pick three
14:38
everything’s important what would make
14:39
you feel best when you’re in bed at
14:40
night and you’re thinking okay today was
14:42
you know a great day that’s and plan for
14:46
those and then plan take that time to
14:48
plan or look at that list and say okay
14:50
wait I’m I’m just reacting reacting what
14:52
can I delegate right now or what can I
14:55
how can I respond to a client or
14:57
somebody else and let them put up and
14:58
better boundaries and let them know you
15:00
know what I’ll have this to you just let
15:02
you know it’s the end of the week like
15:03
it all of that comes from the thinking
15:05
planning strategizing space okay and
15:08
it’s the complete opposite of reacting
15:10
and getting through your list and it’s
15:12
just the hardest I think it’s what
15:13
you’re saying it’s like it’s that
15:14
mindset it really starts with I don’t
15:17
need to do more I need to plan more okay
15:21
that’s I’ve never heard anyone say it
15:23
exactly that way but it makes total
15:25
sense and I love I love the focus on
15:28
what would make me feel most successful
15:30
and it is so funny as you’re talking
15:32
about this R I’m thinking about yep I’ve
15:34
got my list and yep I’ve got things on
15:36
my list that I’m like they’re staying on
15:38
the list and I’m not taking action on
15:40
them yet because there’s resistance they
15:42
feel hard there’s what you know whatever
15:45
number of things going on with them so
15:47
that’s a really good way of putting it
15:49
and prioritizing those I want to ask you
15:52
I want to ask you some like tactical
15:54
questions about your Bel and I think
15:56
people have different perspectives on
15:58
this so I’m not I don’t know if there’s
16:00
a one siiz fits all solution but I’ve
16:03
heard different things I’m just curious
16:04
your perspective to-do lists versus
16:07
scheduling in your calendar what do you
16:10
tell your clients to
16:12
do I tell them there’s a marriage
16:14
between the to-do list and the calendar
16:17
and I don’t believe one works well
16:20
without the other that is a true it’s a
16:22
true intersection it’s a true marriage
16:24
they come together and I can’t say they
16:26
don’t work well okay so actually let me
16:28
backtrack can say first of all the
16:29
system that works is a system that
16:31
you’ll use yeah that’s that’s the number
16:33
one thing right so I could tell you five
16:35
different systems if you’re not going to
16:36
use any of them they’re useless so if
16:38
you’re using a to-do list it’s working
16:40
great for you fantastic if you’re using
16:42
just your calendar it’s working great
16:43
for you fantastic but for most people
16:45
we’ve tried that entrepreneurs
16:47
especially we have so many demands and
16:48
so many distractions and it’s it’s just
16:51
kind of falling it’s just a failing it’s
16:52
not working so to me that the
16:55
intersection between the two the
16:56
marriage of them both is where like
16:58
where the gold is you know where it
17:00
happens where the magic happens so it’s
17:02
actually having your to-do list and
17:04
that’s just kind of step one and it but
17:05
is very important brain dumping breaking
17:08
things down there’s kind of a whole Art
17:09
and Science to a really good to-do list
17:11
okay and then taking that and putting
17:15
those picking those let’s say we’ll
17:17
stick to the top three that’s what I
17:18
just talked about pick those top three
17:20
and put them actually on your calendar
17:23
just like you would you’re picking up
17:25
your kids from school or your client
17:26
meeting or your hair appointment you put
17:28
them on there because there’s a really
17:30
interesting thing that happens it’s
17:32
mind-blowing everything seems to make
17:34
sense when it’s on the list right that’s
17:37
why we can see 12 things and in our
17:38
minds even though we are professionals
17:41
we are smart we have degrees in your
17:43
mind your mind is going to say oh yeah
17:45
you could totally finish those 12 things
17:46
today right and then you get three done
17:49
and then you feel like crap because
17:50
you’re like oh I always fail it’s a
17:52
self-sabotaging cycle I never I never do
17:55
what I set out to do you know it’s just
17:57
very bad now if you pull those 10 and
18:00
you actually tried to put them on your
18:01
calendar you’d be like there’s no way
18:03
there’s no way they were going to fit
18:04
with everything else on my schedule
18:06
today it is called it’s a belief bias we
18:09
believe we can get more done than we
18:11
actually can it’s just like a
18:12
psychological thing so there’s nothing
18:15
wrong with us or not that we’re not
18:16
smart but we have to actually visually
18:18
see it most people most people have to
18:20
actually see it so what it allows you to
18:22
do is say okay the 10’s not going to fit
18:24
maybe five’s not even going to fit maybe
18:25
just four or three and it it forc forces
18:28
you then forces you to prioritize the
18:30
most important and really think through
18:33
the day and the implications and the con
18:35
oh okay well then if I do that we have
18:36
to drive here and you know it just gets
18:38
you kind of really thinking and that’s
18:39
where that planning comes in right so
18:41
it’s like I’m not even doing at that
18:43
moment but if I could plan my day really
18:45
well I’m going to feel much better so
18:47
instead of me thinking I’m going to get
18:48
10 done I get three done I feel terrible
18:51
how about I think I’m just going to get
18:52
three done yeah I put three in my
18:54
calendar I get three done now it’s 100%
18:57
success and I feel amazing amazing when
18:58
I go to bed at night you know yes and
19:01
that feeling um is is what keeps you
19:05
motivated it’s what inspiring for you
19:07
the next day you know it’s just feeling
19:09
like I’m in control you know I am I’m
19:13
successful I achieve what I set out to
19:16
do these are all the signals that were
19:18
sending our brain versus I failed again
19:21
I can never keep on top of things I’m
19:23
always behind right and that’s the
19:25
signal then you know and as you know
19:27
it’s like your beliefs and your SCS and
19:28
it all actions and so how do we keep
19:31
that belief system positive well we’ve
19:34
got to back it up with that planning and
19:36
and setting out for the right
19:38
actions wow oh my gosh I love this so so
19:41
much and I don’t think we have time for
19:44
it today but I’m really intrigued by
19:45
this Art and Science of the good to-do
19:47
list like you were talking about before
19:50
maybe people could get resources on that
19:52
from your website or your yeah I know
19:54
we’ll share all of that but I’m very
19:55
intrigued by that too so it’s a marriage
19:58
makes total sense that’s kind of what
20:00
mine is doing right now so I feel okay I
20:03
can breathe that piece is we’re doing
20:05
okay I’m curious one more tactical
20:08
question and um and then this is so good
20:11
I’m like I could talk to you forever
20:13
forever forever and
20:15
ever I’m curious though your take on
20:19
inbox zero this is very selfishly a
20:21
coaching session for elase where I share
20:23
all the areas where I’ve over the years
20:24
been like what is best what’s the what’s
20:27
the best approach so what’s your take on
20:29
that especially with by the way all the
20:31
inboxes there’s like 12 inboxes right
20:33
social media email phone so yeah go
20:37
ahead yeah um I don’t I don’t have inbox
20:40
zero okay uh I think that it’s there’s a
20:43
lot of pressure out there to do a
20:44
million things right starting from not
20:46
just inbox zero but I should wake up and
20:48
stand on my head for 10 minutes and
20:49
journal and meditate and have green
20:51
juice and you know and be the best mom
20:53
and I just you know there’s just so much
20:55
pressure to do all these things that
20:57
quote unquote what all the experts do
20:59
and everybody does and I you know at the
21:01
end of the day I think you’ve got to do
21:02
what works for you and what makes you
21:05
feel good so I’m totally fine having I
21:07
don’t I don’t have hundreds and hundreds
21:09
of thousands of emails in my inbox I
21:11
have 50,000 emails in my archive box
21:14
like they’re there they’re there in my
21:16
inbox I probably have I don’t know a
21:18
dozen two dozen three it just depends on
21:19
the day and I feel okay about that like
21:22
that doesn’t make me I don’t need to see
21:24
a zero to feel good right again you’re
21:25
going to say always bringing it back to
21:27
your emotional state
21:28
yes but if if that is stressing you out
21:30
then maybe you want to strive for a
21:31
little less but if you’re like you know
21:32
what I have clients who are like I have
21:34
a 100 in there and it’s fine and it
21:36
doesn’t or hundreds like in their inbox
21:38
hundreds thousand and it’s fine I only
21:40
look at the top ones that’s fine too I I
21:42
ultimately you know it’s going to have
21:44
to be kind your own determination for me
21:47
I’m not striving for a zero but I but I
21:49
do like I do a like anxiety if it’s more
21:51
than maybe you know something like right
21:54
I have them broken up as um have used
21:56
Gmail so they have like in the
21:58
promotions there’s like four different
22:00
categories and if it’s below the fold
22:02
like if I can’t see it on my screen you
22:05
know if the emails are going lower than
22:06
my screen then I know it’s too much
22:08
that’s like literally my okay that’s a
22:09
good way thinking about it for me for me
22:11
just mentally I just it feels like okay
22:12
I can handle that that’s not too much
22:14
when it starts going below that I’m like
22:16
I really got to clean this stuff up so
22:18
use your own determination of what’s
22:19
going to like cause you anxiety but
22:21
don’t do it just because everybody says
22:23
the guru is do it or that’s the right
22:25
way it’s no no yeah right just like
22:28
being a mom there’s a million different
22:30
different ways to raise your kids and
22:32
you know there’s no right or wrong yeah
22:34
absolutely now what you’re sharing is so
22:36
good and aligns with a lot of what we
22:38
teach in different ways when just
22:40
yesterday I was teaching strategy and
22:42
method to a group of entrepreneurs and
22:44
sales professionals and the thing we
22:45
said was like every strategy can work
22:48
there’s no one right strategy it’s your
22:50
belief system in it your belief level in
22:53
it and what works for you what’s
22:54
supposed to align for you so I feel like
22:55
you’re saying that here with time too
22:57
which I love because I think anyone says
22:59
this is the only way for everyone I’m
23:01
automatically like H I don’t know and
23:03
antenna is up a little bit so I love
23:04
that you’re saying choose the system
23:06
that works for you and then also one
23:08
thing I’m really taking with me that I’m
23:10
going to use is what would make me feel
23:13
most successful today so what three
23:15
things would make me feel most
23:17
successful today start with those and
23:19
then if more gets done great but if not
23:22
you’re going to have that feeling of
23:23
success which is going to breed more
23:26
success every day every day yeah yeah
23:29
imagine you got three things off your
23:31
procrastinated list it’s your to-do list
23:33
here’s my procrastinated list and I even
23:35
you even knocked off two of them how
23:36
great are you going to feel it’s it’s
23:38
such an it’s like really 50 pounds off
23:40
your shoulders right you’re just because
23:42
you carry that with you every day it
23:44
just it it’s funny because we
23:46
procrastinate because we think it’s
23:48
going to make us feel better because
23:50
we’re not doing the thing right so we’re
23:51
going to go towards the thing that makes
23:53
us feel good so instead of writing that
23:54
hard email let me get on Instagram or do
23:56
something else so we basically going to
23:58
the the the more gratifying thing but
24:01
what ends up happening is the thing that
24:02
we think is going to make us feel better
24:03
makes us feel worse because we we
24:05
continue to put off we continue to
24:07
procrastinate that thing so now it gets
24:09
heavier and heavier and heavier and it
24:11
feels like it’s going to take me longer
24:13
and it’s going to be harder and like so
24:15
it’s such a it’s so funny how we all do
24:18
it right but like the thing we’re trying
24:19
to avoid is what we are you know
24:23
increasing so good oh my gosh it’s so
24:26
that’s exactly right it’s all it’s
24:28
opposite it’s like opposite think right
24:32
yes that’s amazing tell everyone so
24:35
let’s let’s this is so great I so
24:36
appreciate you coming on and sharing and
24:38
again like I said a lot of times these
24:39
conversations are selfishly coaching
24:42
sessions for me where I get to hear from
24:44
different experts in their fields uh
24:46
what you know what works for them and
24:48
and I apply it and it’s beautiful any
24:51
other final word of advice for high
24:54
achieving driven female entrepreneurs
24:56
sales professionals who want more out of
24:59
life and want to also really enjoy what
25:03
they’re doing enjoy their experience of
25:05
Life what would you say any final words
25:06
of advice yeah i’ say one of the biggest
25:10
issues that is undervalued we don’t
25:11
always see is our lack of
25:14
boundaries
25:16
and we teach people how to treat us so
25:22
our actions are speaking miles right so
25:24
if we if we react to the text all the
25:27
time if we’re immediately going back to
25:29
the email if we allow the calls at any
25:31
time of night if you’re on your laptop
25:33
at 9:00 and and by the way if you doing
25:35
any of these things and you choose to
25:36
that’s fine but if you start teaching
25:39
people that these are the expectations
25:42
right that that you’re going to be there
25:43
at their becking call or there’s no
25:45
saying no or I’m always available there
25:48
is a difference you know for being a
25:49
great customer service which I know we
25:51
all want and be great client service and
25:54
act having boundaries and I will tell
25:56
you people respect other people with
25:59
boundaries more so I again it’s so
26:02
counterintuitive we think that if I’m
26:04
there all the time I’m always responding
26:05
they’re going to really respect me and
26:07
highly regard me and I and I just I
26:09
would just challenge your listener to
26:11
think about in in your own life the
26:14
person or it could be a personal person
26:16
be some
26:18
professional that you know when I text
26:20
them they’re not going to respond to the
26:21
next morning or the next day or the you
26:23
know and not in a bad way not and not
26:25
the person who doesn’t respond for two
26:26
weeks we’re not talking about that or
26:28
the person who says no you know what I’m
26:30
really I have too much going on on my
26:31
plate this weekend can we do it another
26:33
time right and just think about that
26:35
person because I know we can all think
26:36
of them and how much respect do you have
26:39
for them to be able to uphold those
26:41
boundaries and say well this is what’s
26:43
important to me and this is what’s not
26:45
instead instead of just reacting all the
26:48
time and letting other people’s urgency
26:50
become your urgency when we’re talking
26:52
about how we feel if we’re talking about
26:54
intention and attention if we’re talking
26:55
about taking control of Our Lives
26:58
it’s got to start with with ourselves
27:01
with ourselves putting up those
27:03
boundaries so I know we could have a
27:04
whole another discussion on that I’m
27:06
sure you talk about that a lot too but
27:08
it is it is so important and it’s so
27:11
funny because when I when I speak with
27:13
clients or we’re about to start working
27:15
together that doesn’t come up so much
27:17
it’s almost like they don’t know that
27:18
like an issue if you you know it’s like
27:20
a blind spot and nine out of 10 times
27:23
that is where we’re starting it’s just
27:25
like okay let’s just really talk about
27:26
this boundary what boundary do you have
27:28
here and and why are you feeling like
27:31
you can’t say no or you can’t put up
27:33
this boundary and what’s holding you
27:34
back we start really getting to the root
27:36
of it and breaking that down and it’s
27:38
just amazing coming out on the other
27:39
side you know incredible oh my gosh yes
27:43
amen amen it’s something I’ve been
27:44
thinking about a lot in my own life and
27:45
I’ve done a lot of work on and uh and
27:48
continue to work on every single day
27:50
right I think it’s something we all get
27:51
to all the time so I love that tell
27:54
